Melissa Hildebrand-Reed, Hildebrand Farms Dairy

Melissa Hildebrand-Reed has served as the Operations Manager for her family’s dairy farm, Hildebrand Farms Dairy. The 120-head dairy is nestled in the heart of the Flint Hills, located just west of Junction City, Kansas and sells its signature glass bottled milk to more than 125 locations throughout the state. Since 2010, Hildebrand-Reed has managed the production, marketing, distribution, compliance, and quality control for the on-site creamery. Her background in sales and marketing and degree from Kansas State University in Agricultural Communications, gave her the skills and understanding to grow the creamery into the thriving business it is today. 

Nancy Brown, Kansas Farm Bureau

Nancy Brown joined the Kansas Farm Bureau staff in 1998.  As the Director of Policy Development, Nancy coordinates the efforts of the KFB Resolutions Committee and the policy development process. She also manages the four livestock advisory committees and coordinates KFB’s agriculture study tours. Nancy earned a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness degree from Kansas State University.

Katie Nixon, West Central Missouri Community Action Agency

Katie Nixon is a farmer and local food systems champion who has been working with and for food producers for over 12 years in the KC region.  Along with her husband, Ken Barber (who is a full-time farmer), Katie co-operates Green Gate Family Farm, a certified Organic diversified market farm where they produce vegetables, fruits, bedding plants, eggs and cut flowers. Katie is a founding member and current President of the KC Food Hub, a farmer-owned and farmer-run cooperative serving the wholesale market. For West Central Missouri Community Action Agency, Katie serves as the Food Systems Director. In this role, she has brought in over $1million in USDA and other funding to improve the regional food system.  Katie is currently serving a second term on the North Central Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Administrative Council as Chair.  Katie has participated in sustainable food and farming work in Washington, Ireland, South Africa, Mexico, and New Zealand. In 2020, she was selected as a Zhi-Xing China Eisenhower Fellow. 

Janelle Maiocco, Founder & CEO of Barn2Door, Inc.

Janelle is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Barn2Door, Inc., the largest vertical ecommerce solutions exclusively servicing Farmers. Janelle is a seasoned executive with 20+ years experience across B2B and B2C ecommerce startups, food+tech and vertical SaaS. She grew up in an agriculture community and has built her career pursuing her passions in food, agriculture, product marketing and technology. Over the years she has consulted with a wide range of clientele, from venture-backed start-ups to Fortune 500 companies (Pepsi Co, Nestle) and major food brands, cooperatives and commissions (CA Raisins, IA Corn, TX Grapefruit, WA Stone Fruit). Janelle is an expert on go-to-market strategies, channel acquisition, brand development, digital media and local food marketplaces.
